If what happened is that somebody dumped a bag of garbage in your yard, what the cop was probably trying to say was, "Just because the trash has that guy's postal mail with his address on it,
doesn't mean he is the one who dumped his trash in your yard."
Coulda just been some pesky teenagers out and about having some sophmoric fun grabbing trash bags out of people's herbie curbies and dumping them in other people's yards... know what I mean?
