I think you hit the nail on the head there: AOL serves your purpose.
I'm aware of AOLs shortfalls, but I've had my AOL e-address so long, I don't want to change it. I first got it as it has access numbers everywhere in the World. Whether I was in Japan or rural Italy, there was access numbers that worked, I just had my laptop and was online, no problem. Very few other ISPs have this, if you need it. Basically, it still works for me fine, wherever I am, and I've really not had a problem with it. I notice that in the UK, as opposed to the US, it is slower though. I hate AOL's program, and use MS Entourage/Outlook for my business email - it sends and receives whilst AOL makes the Internet connection, I use AOL for my personal email.
