One of the squadrons at work had their family day on Saturday. Pretty much a thankyou to the families of squadron personnel for putting up with crazy work schedules and deployments.




We got to fly in the 757 at 1500ft at 250 knots out over the North Shore, Rangitoto, Waiheke, Great Barrier islands and the northern end of the coromandel peninsula. When we came back in we did a missed approach, did another circuit of the airfield and then landed properly.

For the herc, we took off and headed over the shore out towards Rangitoto island. As soon as we leveled out the loadmasters dropped the ramp at the back so we could all take pictures. This was a pretty sweet deal!

We flew around Rangitoto a few timed before coming back in towards the CBD from Mission Bay and did a lap of the Skytower before coming back in to land.
