Break in process question

I have rebuild my engine some time ago, before the body restoration of the car. Since the car is coming back from the painters in 2 weeks, I can't wait to start my freshly rebuild engine.

I know that the first time you start the engine, you have to run it for 20 minutes at 2000 RPM for break in. After that you can have short drives to finally run the car as normal.

Since I still have to build up the car when it returns, but I want to start that engine, can I do that initial 20 minute break in and then leave the engine for a couple of month without starting? (changing oil of course after initial run) Or do you have to go ahead with the further drives immediately after the inital run?

Your advice is appreciated!
