I am very slow-going in moving up. I know how to read my body and this week I felt like I had the energy to move up. I bought some gloves that support my wrists and set a 2 x 4 on my chest (helps protect the shoulders by preventing me from getting too low with the bar).
I fully realize that at some point I will have to scale back the lifiting--I'm just enjoying while I can and being cautious so as not to cause long-term problems. I did do 50 minutes on the treadmill (900 calories for me) before the lifting.
Of the group of guys I work out with, I'm the little guy. One guy does 360, one 405, and one 430. They are much more aggressive than me (and older) and I expect joint problems out of them any day.
