I have been going back and forth trying to get a set of 15" rims for my Corvair. I love the panasport style but since I am one of the "Temporarily Retired" due to the economy, money is a little tight.
Well I came across a set of Swastika Rims from a Datsun 280 ZX Turbo. Yes this is the name. These are 15X6 and weight 14.5 pounds each. Anyway they were a bit tattered so I took a lead from all of Richards threads and decided to try and clean them up. I started with Brasso and medium steel wool, then more Brasso with fine steel wool. Next I went to 1000 grit crocus cloth, then some paint to match my car, some clear and now I have a new set of wheels. They are not perfect but I think they will set my car off, in a good way.
I have been running 205/60-13 tires with baby moons for a long time. These are too short and driving on the highway is a bit much. If I go to a 205/60-15 I have the same (well close enough) diameter from the 180/80-13 that will allow me better highway cruising.
Here are the before and after pictures.
