Tow Hitch Questions

Tow Hitch Questions.

Vehicle: 1998 S10 LS 4x4 pick-up sportside 6ft bed 4.3L V6 automatic trans.

I have existing mounting holes in the frame, just over 1-inch in diameter and about 38 inches apart. Just two holes total, don't know if the bumper is a bracing point.

I can see a bright green flat wiring connection clip in good condition already in place on top of the frame just below the right tail light.

I need to tow only about 1,000 pounds, but expect to put at least a level II tow hitch on it.

I dislike tow hitches which rust out after a couple of years and also leave your wiring dangling about. I would like a good quality hitch, preferably one with a plug-in type brake light hook up.

I don't weld, and my old rusty hitch is about 6 inches shorter than I need and uses 4 smaller bolt holes.

Question-1: Will a wiring harness just plug into the flat green clip?

Question-2: Where did you get a hitch at, did you do it yourself?

The place which put on my last two hitches (one rusted out) on the Tracker moved or is out of business, and money is tight - please help.

Yea, I know it's rusty down under there - it's an 11 year old Michigan truck.
