Yes, yes, and yes.

The bypass oil filter typically is a much finer mesh filter than the oem oil filter. It bypasses some of the oil, and filter the oil extremely well, then return it to the crankcase. You may have to add an extra quart or so of oil to make up for what is in the bypass oil lines and filter.
