You are doing it right 12.4 (15)T'ish and look for pertinent bugs.
So much more now depends on what "features" you need so you have to go with the feature navigator to find a suitable version, then make sure you have the RAM and flash, yadda yadda.....

Right, our 2821s are all running one of the 12.4(15)T5, I think, or something very close to that.
