I am sorry that I don't have any photos or pictures of the presentation of the watch back to my dad, but the reuniting of owner and watch went very well.
I wore the watch all evening hoping that someone would notice, but no go. Finally when my dad was playing with my son, I said "You know what Liam really likes to play with? His dad's watch!" I handed my dad the watch and he looked at it for quite some time and I told him that it was his watch.
He was thrilled, and wanted to give it back right away but we insisted that he keep it at least for a little while.
More to the story. His younger brother had bought him the watch while on leave in Holland. He was stationed in Germany and was a radio/radar tech.
His brother had passed away a few years ago. He had a pretty rough life after his wife had died from cancer.
While it was a great pleasure to be able to do this for my dad, I will admit at first my intentions were kind of selfish. My wife gently suggested that it was great that I was doing this for my dad. I guess that is why they call them "the better half".
For now that is the end of my little story.
