I believe the current surge is nothing more than the typical "mad rush" you see from sheeple whenever there's a story on the news. Remember the rice shortage a few months ago?. Couldn't find a bag of Uncle Ben's for miles around. Remember the computer memory shortage (mid 90's?)?
Sheeple + media sensationalism = shortage/demand. That's all it is.
