I have been thinking about a new dream car. A daily driver 911 R built on a budget.
start with a beater 911 shell, as cheap and as torn down as possible. get all the TRE/GTracing 911 R style stuff. final appearance as a less polished version of this:
however, here is the reason i put it on this thread, instead of a big $$$ 910 or even S (or RS) spec 911 engine, and the associated reliability issues, drop in:
the honda F20C, in 2L form or 2.2L form... can still even put that little 2L sticker on the back....
i think it would work extremely well in a light weight shell with stock gearing (9k redline, ~240hp)... adds fuel economy, reliability, options for good ac... and the engine is very much in the nature of the old engine, just modernized.... I know it would not sound as nice, but 8000+rpm has its own appeal.
i know its not the power of the 8, but its a different character, and more daily driver features.
