I used PODS when we relocated from Mass. to NC. Because we were moving out of state, we had to use the full size 16' units.
A wonderful help was that we were able to use a moving truck for free through our real estate agency.
For the first phase of moving, we borrowed the truck and filled up a 10'x10' storage unit. Once the house sold, we ordered two PODS. We borrowed the moving truck again to empty the storage unit into the pod and then empty out the rest of the house.
Pros:
PODS was great because they held our stuff in the warehouse until we closed on our new house for no extra charge. The cost was reasonable and much cheaper than hiring movers.
Cons:
We barely had enough room in both PODS for all of our stuff and it was too late to order another one. We ended up leaving some stuff behind. Moving yourself really sucks, but it does pay for itself in the end.
