I found this excerpt from my Bosch Fuel Injection Manual and feel it could benefit all of us. Here is quick and easy way to test if your AAV (Auxiliary Air Valve is working properly.

"A simple test of the aux air valve is to remove it from the car and place the valve in the freezer for 15 minutes. When removed from the freezer the valve should be open. If it is, install it back on the car and run it for 5 minutes. the valve should be closed."

Look through the port to see if it's open or closed.
