Since I am typically running anywhere from 15-60 minutes late (because something is always coming up/interrupting), this additional interruption did not reduce the stress. Eventually, she changed and now only calls when something is up. Makes it that much better when we can just be together, no work, no interruptions.

Ahh... I actually mis-read the first post where it discussed how many phone calls when you DO see your spouse regularly. I travel alot and just thought the question was regarding # of calls when out of town. But home is different. For that, Steve or I usually call each other once per day when I'm in town. Try to have lunch together, figure out whose picking up the kids, etc.

The nice thing is that the phone calls could be about "something" like kids, an appointment, etc., or they could be about "nothing" like "just called to say I love you, etc."

I've seen spouses where the calls are one after another all day long. Blech. That would annoy the heck out of me. But getting to hear my husband's voice during the middle of the day for a few minutes is wonder. I love the sound of it, it makes me smile just to see his name on the caller ID.
