I've had to rescue two Opreys with broken wings. There are no less than five Osprey nests within a mile of my farm. They are simply magnificent hunters.
One I rescued out of the water.
I took the tool golfers use to scoop golf ball out of water hazards, swam out to the Osprey. He, no doubt seeing the extender pole as a threat, grabbed on. I walked him to shore where we ushered him into one of those Igloo dog houses.
That is the good news. The bad news is that the wildlife recovery team we took him to said the survival rate is small with predator class birds that injure their wings. We lost both our rescues.
Best of luck...I hope your hawk survives.
