I was in a hotel room the other night and a fight of his came on ESPN Classic. I think Tyson was like 16-0 at the time, so it was still pretty early on in his career.
I followed boxing for a time and I boxed myself as an amateur for a while. Watching Tyson's fight from back then was just awe-inspiring. So fast and so powerful. The man was a machine. There's something pure about boxing...something wonderful. And Tyson did it all about as well as a human being can do it.
It's a shame he made such poor choices in his personal life. I actually do pity him in a way, as I'm sure he was taken advantage of. Not an excuse, but a shame nonetheless.
