How much do think you can sell it for? Cool bike and way ahead of its time, but its not an RC-30. I say these bikes in good condition change hands for 3k or less all day long. Is that amount of cash really going to get you into a convertible (or make even a dent in the cost of the convertible you're thinking of?) Compare the market value with your desire to ride...even if its just a couple times per year. I think you'll find that the bike is worth more to you than you can sell it for.
I go through this thought process every so often when I consider selling my '95 Ducati M900.
