You forgot guys toting a dime bag of weed.
And frankly I think the sex offenders ARE a danger to society forever. I have no problem with locking up those individuals and throwing away the key. Or simply castrating them. Don't care. Drunk driving is a scourge but I agree it's over-enforced.
It all comes down to money. CA has none, so they're kicking the criminals back to the streets, which only empowers them to do larger-scale crime and focusing on enforcement efforts that actually make the state money (parking & traffic enforcement, vehicle registrations, business licenses, similar nonsense).
Very sorry for the families of those officers. Horrible story.
And (once again) I completely agree with sniper. I'd welcome the chance to rid this world of some human refuse (god knows there's enough of it around socal) but society is too pussified at this point to resort to such measures that would actually SOLVE THE PROBLEM. Instead they're content to hem and haw and waste time, money and lives trying to figure out a "politically correct" way to deal with the problem, which doesn't exist - certainly not on any sort of balanced budget. As usual, gov't can't get out of its own way.
Sometimes vigilante justice is still justice.
