I found that out the hard way when i ruined the finish on a GORGEOUS two-tone stainless/high polish blued Springfield Champion .45 i used for concealed carry. Within 6 months the high points on the slide had all worn down to silver. It was pretty depressing, i must say- that was an absolutely beautiful firearm...
