Actually, most riders will tell you to do exactly that. Stay clipped in, hold onto the handlebars and roll. Anything that you stick out will get broken off. Wish I had listened- I have 8 bolts in my knee. Armstrong is a terrific bike handler with a generation of professional experience- most would say he did the right thing.
