I didn't read that thread, but shortly after acquiring my car (46K miles on her at the time) many years ago, I had an outer boot with a small tear, so I decided to go ahead and replace all 4 boots, while repacking all 4 CVs and inspecting them in the process. The traditional way on the G50s is to remove the inner CV joint, and slide the outer boot down the shaft, hence my decision to do them all. At that mileage, all of my CV joints appeared just like new, no pits, mars, perfect...so after a messy, but doable DIY job, I knew I was set for a good long time.
