I was 14 and it was a chilly, windy, overcast day at Charlotte Memorial Stadium in November 1965. There were 4 of us who had been invited to go along on a birthday trip with our friend Vivian. Her mom drove us there from our little hometown about two hours away.
I think there were four or more bands that played that afternoon, but these are the only ones I remember...
The Catalinas --- "beach music"... ugh
The Shadows of Knight --- made a big hit out of Van Morrison's "Gloria"
...and then, the headliner...
Herman's Hermits --- okay, it's not really rock, but what do you expect... a 14 year old girl told her mom she wanted to go and take 4 friends. L O L
We had a blast... it was fun to watch the guys in the bands make girls scream just by looking at them.
