Mike,
Once a vehicle is 25 years old or older, believe that the regulations are relaxed. You can use a search engine on the internet to find out more. The car I just imported was a 1992 model but they made only 100 of them and the regulations are reasonable on cars like this.
The process is not that difficult if the car is older.
