I agree with your assessment. Some people will like the fact that it has a new engine and trans and others will want a bargain or avoid it all together.
Putting it up on eBay is much like putting it up for sale at wholesale prices. I think that Dealers dump their used car inventory there. Trade-in's that they don't intend to retail.
There are other smaller dealers who go to the auctions, buy cars that are coming off of leases and try to sell them for a quick $500 profit and try to make it on volume.
I'm not convinced that this is the best way to get the most money for a car although it is a fast way.
