I agree with you 100% that a 1984 automatic is the most reliable and lowest operating cost 928 that exists as they had a lot of nice improvements over the early cars, but do not have the overly complex electronics or the dreaded interference motors that the later cars do. In my opinion, a 1984 automatic is the best of both worlds.
