It is a cat, not a dog. A "cooped up" cat primary means of distruction during the day is shedding where they sleep.
My ex-wife, shortly after we adopted a kitten, called me all worried.
"The cat is sick"
My first thoughts were, we'll, we can get another one much chearper than fixing this one.
"What's wrong?"
"It's sleeping all the time."
"Yeah, but what's wrong with the cat?"
"It keeps sleeping. You know, when a child is sick, they sleep a lot."
"Uh. That is what cats do. They sleep. All day long. except when they are eating or pooping or annoying you."
"You're sure it's not sick?"
"I'm sure!"
