When I first started remodeling houses, I'd used second hand restaurant ranges. You have to build a fire box around them but they are awesome to cook on and cheap! These days you can even buy them with automatic pilots...if you buy one with pilots that are lit at all times, turn them off and keep a candle-lighter on stand by...
Almost forgot...some insurance companies have issues with them and if you burn your house down, you may have issues...do it at your own risk!
