Back in the saddle again

When I was 12 we took a week long family vacation to DC from Pensacola, FL. We spent 5 or maybe 7 days seeing monuments, museums, etc.... It made an impression, but only so much, I was 12. We then spent a week camping in NoVa (Davidson River Campgrounds).
When I was 15-17 we lived in NoVA. I think I was in DC twice the whole time we lived there. Not to see anything, but I think to pick up my HS girlfriend and something else I don't remember. I'm kind of disappointed that we didn't go then. Now that I'm an adult, I'd love to go back and spend at least a week, maybe 2.
