Wow, just... Wow.

Are those wires even the right kind? The only time I've seen that style of wire separators on the wires has been on 32V engines and those use different wires. Secondly, you do not want spark plug wires wrapped around a bunch of metal stuff, seriously! Third, they don't even appear to all be connected!

Yes, the "thing" without the belt is the AC Compressor, but you've got bigger problems than that. Get a set of the proper wires and go from there.

The green wire you have in your photo is not the famous $100 green ignition wire. Odds are, if it's never been replaced it's more of a yellow or brown now, at least that's how mine looked before I replaced it.
