Navy Pier is a shopping mall. Nice views of the city, but a mall. If that's what you're looking for, stay in Schaumburg and go to Woodfield.
The
U-505 German submarine is and remains a permanent exhibit at The Museum of Science and Industry, not Navy Pier.
