Annoying solicitors.
They bus them down to Bloomington from Chicago proper in convoys. The past two nights at dinner time, I've been hit up by young ladies trying to get me to buy "Advance Cleaner" for $7 a bottle. It will clean windows, toilets, stoves, ovens, showers, sinks...
(So will Windex for a fraction of the price.)
We've had the fruit guys who sell apples, grapefruits, and oranges for a $1 apiece, minimum order 50.
Pretty soon we'll have the magazine subscription people, and the church youth groups. I buy from the local ones, but not the ones bussed down from Chicago. I don't agree with these churches busing the kids for three hours one-way and pimping out them out Saturdays (and Sundays!) to sell crap no one needs. It's amazing how a question as simple as "Which church do you attend?" can turn into a near-standoff sometimes. (The local kids proudly proclaim their church, the bused-in kids like to use the vague phrase "a local church".)
Then we'll have TruGreen and ADT out promising free crap to get you hooked on their services.
Mixed in their off course are the guys who are just casing the neighborhoods for robberies.
My wife won't let me put my "Solicitors will be shot" sticker in the window.
