An Ace pitcher at
MOST pitches 1/4 of the time for his team(and to do that he has to be in a 4 man rotation and always pitch complete games). A goaler in the playoffs is there for every single second of every single game.
Not even remotely comparable.
I think you could make a
decent argument that a Closer is more important in baseball than any one starter is. Just look at Lidge last year for the Phils.
Come the 9th inning when he stepped on the mound to close a game, it was over.
No ifs, ands, or buts.
