Amen to the bottled water. Occasionally, if necessary, I'll do a bottled coke. But only me, I don't trust anyone else not to spill. If there's someone else, and they want a drink (obviously I won't drink in front of them) we'll pull over however many times they need.
My advice is just make a shot of espresso or something the night before, and down it on your way to the car. or get a spillproof travel mug.
