I found mine acting strange after about three + years (DNCP stopped working and had to assign IP addresses was the big thing). Tried all kinds of things including firmware.
Went out and got a new one and all things normal again. Seems that after a few years, they just start acting strange. Life expectency on enterprise class equipment is around 3 - 4 years. It would make sense that since you keep the router on 24 x 7, that a consumer device wouldn't live forever. If it's more than a couple years old, time to replace.
