I have the same issue with him. He started out really strong, vocally and had an emotional element, his new/young wifes sudden premature death, going for him.
But with each episode he becomes less relevant.
I put him ahead of Kris cause I think his fanbase is bigger/stronger, not because I think he is more talented.
He's a good middle american christian (nothing wrong with it) choir director from a solid all american family.
Remember Carly Smithson from last year? The one with the tats.
I really thought she was a final round contender. But I'd cringe every time they showed a shot of her husband. The guy was inked from head to toe, facial tat's don't go over that big with everyday america.
Then she sang Jesus Christ Superstar which was a great performance from her. Word on the street is the Christian community was offended and boom she was gone.
