At this time NOT issues that effect all cylinders - coil - fuel - Motronic items - etc.

Where would I start - item 1 above - plugs first just cause it is simple and cheapest.
Examine all plug tips for further clues.

+1...except, these would be my second steps. The very first (and easiest) thing I would do would be to spray around every single intake and vacuum and check for intake leaks. Cheap, easy and takes approximately 1-2 minutes...and usually eliminates the problem.
