Tonight was exactly why they instituted the save, which was IMHO, wasted early on Matt who simply was not going to win regardless.
Adam is so far ahead that people stopped voting figuring he is a shoe in.
Same thing happened to Daughtry the year Taylor Hicks won.
I think it may have been the case with Dolittle as well.
