Actually, and most reviews, tests, experts, etc. confirm, basically all the laser warning is doing is telling you that you have just been caught. There is little scatter like some like to advertise and conditions relative to your vehicle would have to be so perfect that detecting borders on impossible. When a cop points the laser at you and your detector goes off it is too late.
