I use a V1 and have a couple of Bel units one being in the 911 now because of how the V1 is wired into the 9-5. The (only?) advantage living in the prairies is that the line of sight is pretty good so all work well.
I also subscribe to the "Greater Fool Theory" which states that no matter how fast I'm going, some other fool will always be going faster, so I just let them trigger whatever is ahead of me. Sometimes I get the first signals from several kilometres away.
