As far as the bent valve is concerned, the culprit was most likely a bad valve guide that led to a bent valve stem.
Sure it might have bent enough, to then, let the piston tap dance on it's head, but I doubt it was the primary cause.
Unless you twisted the engine to 7500rpm or better, cause that ain't healthy for them either. Then it's simply, that the valve train can not keep up, and you get valve float. Combine that with the excess reciprocating piston speed, and you get contact.
