Hello all!

Well bad news with the car! Andy and I were able to get from Charlotte, NC to South Bend, Il by 12:30 Saturday (we left at 10:30 at night).

There was definately something cool about running 85 mph for most of the way trying to get there in time. We made it to registration, but the car was leaking oil badly by the time we got there.

With your assistance and one of my sponsors making some calls, I was able to find a rear main seal at Eurosport, at the Autobahn Country Club. George was great. Well, more than great. I was completely tapped out by then. I had been working on the car for 16 hours a day for two weeks straight. The last 5 days I got only 10 hours of sleep combined. (Before we left I had only 20 minutes on Thursday).

George understood and was also able to help with some gauge issues I was having.

Once we got the part, it was over to Scott's Garage in Alsip, Il. he and his son, AJ were very understanding and spent mos of Saturday night pulling the engine and replacing the rear main seal.

We thought all was well on Sunday, but after about an hour test drive, we found the leak had come back. I'm stumped on this one!

With this problem, which would prevent us from getting on the track as well as many other minor issues, I decided to call it quits. One Lap moves from place to place so fast, you just can't catch up if you have any major problems.

Sooo, we got back to Charlotte yesterday afternoon and got the car to the engine builder.

There is sooo much more to this story. It was one of those heroic efforts to get something accomplished even in the face of not enough time. It seems the greateds feat was to get the car to the event. No one thought it was possible and I wanted to quit many times over. Yet, I didn't and not until I was past hopeless did I end the effort.

Thank you all for looking out for me. I was not sure of where to get help and first, but then immediately thought of the Pelican BBS once my head cleared!
