Pop stars need to be actors first. So from that perspective, Lambert is a great "idol." But he ain't a rock singer, I doubt he will break any ground (like Elvis did) or truly push the genre or spill his guts (like Plant or Mercury). He will be a good "star" though.

I do agree there is an element of over the topedness, but you know, he
is gay...and i like a good stage show anyway, like Axl Rose used to bring, so i have no complaints about that.
