We were speaking of Studebaker Starlight coupes a few posts back. Here are some pics of the end of one of drag racing's legends. Ted Harbit's Chicken Hawk was wrecked last weekend in Muncie, Indiana. Ted is in the hospital but should recover completely. The Chicken hawk has been raced pretty much continuously since the 50's, and held many class records over the years. Lately, still using a Studebaker V8 but now with a turbocharger or two replacing the paxton blower, Ted's been turning in the 9's. This wreck occured at the end of 6:46 1/8th mile pass when apparently an oil line broke causing him to lose traction. He flipped over the Armco and flipped 10 times, taking out the timing scoreboard at the end of the 1/4 mile. Prayers would of course, be appreciated. More here at
