The VW R32 and an S4 have similar 1/4 mile and 0-60 times even though the power to weight ratio favor the S4 by around 15%.
I guess the all wheel drive is the key there.
I'd rather have the S4 though because for less than the price of a new R32 I bought a good condition S4 with nice suspension upgrades put a supercharger on it and it will smoke that VW in a big way. A 10 psi blower on an S4 gives you twice the power to weight ratio compared to the R32 and all wheel drive won't overcome that kind of HP advantage even with the S4's gearing disadvantage. Then take the S4 out on a track or cross country and the VW will be even father behind.
Then park the two side by side and just look at them! Nuff said!
