Well the difference between a 3057 and a 3157 is 2 watts on the tail light side. I had too high a wattage on the brake light side and when I'd sit at a stop light with the brake pedal down. I'd burn my sockets just like yours.

I can't help more than that, but if your car has ever been serviced or repaired, it's a thought.
