Bottled water is not "green," it's just the opposite. The only reason for its popularity is that public water tastes like the sewage that it is. We now pay for it by filling landfills with lots of non-recycled bottles.
There is lots to ridicule with the "green" craze; however, the intention is generally well meaning and there are opporunities for forward-looking people (technology, services, investment) to make some money. Also, whining about the inefficency of some of the currently proposed technologies all you want. Rome wasn't built in a day.
