That specific thing is a scam.
There is free satellite (called FTA, Free To Air), which is just unencoded satellite feeds from all over the world. If you can point your (big ugly giant) dish at the right satellite, you can get their feed.
This software is just a collection of junk (lists of channels, satellite coordinates, probably some kind of front end viewer to watch what's coming out of the satellite receiver anyways). It doesn't include any equipment, not does it get you channels that are encoded.
Basically, if you want to watch church shows from Columbia, or shopping channels from Greenland, or the local news from Fargo, you can do so for free right now anyways. You won't be watching HBO and ESPN.
