I took a totally original and pristine Italian bike to the shop and asked the same question. I wanted to know if I changed things is it would hurt the value. "What value?," is all I got.
I yanked all the finger tip controls and drop bars and tossed it all in favor of a more comfortable and practical bike with straight bars and thumb controls.
