Thanks to everyone who offered advice. The phone is currently in a bag of rice. We will see what happens. My experience in the past has been that once dried out phones will work for a short while then corrosion seems to take its toll.
The i-phone as several have said is different because it cant be opened. Very hard to dry. She has not had the phone for very long. Would hate to see it condemned without a fight. I guess she can try everything suggested here then cry.
